Laurent Fignon the former professional bicycle racer from France expired at the age of 50 following his serious illness in a battle with metastatic cancer that was diagnosed a year ago in 2009. Laurent twice bagged victory in the championship of Tour de France in the year 1983 and also in the year 1984. He was also declared a runner-up in the year 1989 when he lost the first place by just 8 seconds which stands as one of the smallest margins noted in the history. In total Fignon bagged 76 victories under his belt during his entire racing career.

The Leadville 100 bike race commenced at 6:30am (9:30 EST) today. The 104 mile long bike race is held every year in Leadville Colorado. But this year the mountain race will not see the 2009 winner Lance Armstrong competing in Leadville 100. The champion biker missed out on the race on account of an injury that he suffered from on his Tour de France trip.

The Ponoco Raceway where the Pennsylvania 500 is scheduled to start, may run into trouble due to an overcast sky. Experts are estimating a 50% chance of there being a rainfall. The skies had opened up earlier & the track had to be dried. There’s no knowing if the rains may pay a visit again.
